SARASOTA CREW SUCCESSFUL AT FIRST MAJOR REGATTA OF THE SPRING SEASON
OSPREY, FL (February 18, 2017)- Sarasota Crew hosted the first of the three-part race series, American Youth Cup, at Nathan Benderson Park on Saturday. Sarasota Crew’s Novice and Varsity athletes raced in came home with 22 first place finishes, 11 second place finishes, and
12 third place finishes. This is the third year that Sarasota Crew has hosted this regatta series.
Races were 2,000 meter sprints in all events that will be raced at the National Championships at the end of the season. Sarasota Crew had 73 entries in the event.
“The American Youth Cup Series is beginning to take hold. We had six of the largest and historically most competitive teams in attendance for the AYC I. Although, we are in the infancy of our season, our student-athletes performed tremendously. They executed our early season plans well, leading us to victories in a majority of events. The women's squad swept the eights
in all age groups, with the men's squad only missing out matching the women's feat by less than a second.” said head coach Casey Galvanek.

Orlando, March 11th.
