Most Memorable: 

After a race in the 2V against Plant my sophomore year, we lost and once the boat was in slings, I ran away crying. Later, I went to Marty and told him I wanted to give the 2V and lightweight 8 to a different coxwain so I didn't screw it up again.  Instead, he told me I had two options: fight or flight. I decided to cox the lightweight 8 that afternoon, and we won against Plant. That experience taught me to never quit and walk away when things get tough or when you feel like you're not good enough.

Most Embarrassing: 

When we were freshmen and didn't have a dock, Allie Pitchford was supposed to carry me int on the boat because I had sweatpants on. She dropped me into the freezing cold water. And the time I accidentally crashed into a scullers launch. And the time I hit the same buoy two days in a row. And the time I crashed into a marker when the Stanford coach was in the launch

Favorite Regatta: Nationals 2014, I remember crossing the line after semis and Cassidy pumping her fist in the air because we realized we had made grands. I was so happy that I could barely breathe, and I was so incredibly proud of my rowers for their hard work paying off. We didn't even expect to make B finals

Miss the most: I'll miss getting to see the sunsets each night and the sunrises each Saturday morning.

 What has Crew taught you: I used to be really shy when I started coxing, but I was forced to come out of my shell. Now, I'm not shy at all and I'm actually a bit too bossy.  I would be a completely different type of person if I weren't a coxswain

Most Memorable: That one time Coach Elliot said he was proud of us.

Most Embarrassing: Freshmen year catching an ejector crab in the V8, being fished out of the water, and then Marty casually continuing on with 2X30

Favorite Regatta: Head of the Charles 2013.

Miss the most: Occasionally seeing Mercedes at practice.

What has Crew taught you: Hard work pays off.

Most Memorable: Definitely when we used the hoses to fill up an enormous water balloon and shifted it to the center of the bocce ball court before we had a guys meeting. Liza didn't look at it at all and everyone couldn't hold their laughter.

Most Embarrassing: At this past OARS Regatta when I mistook Andy for Alex Mochrie and grabbed his arm, asking him to pick up trash....he really wasn't happy about that.

Favorite Regatta: Nationals 2013, we all cried a lot.

Miss the most: I'll miss the feeling of being part of such a close team. Working together with the homies to achieve great heights. I'll miss that

 What has Crew taught you: Crew kept me in shape and focused on what is really important to me. It taught me true teamwork and camaraderie.

Most Memorable: Most memorable moment on Sarasota Crew was winning Nationals in the V8 as a Sophomore.

Most Embarrassing: My most embarrassing experience is something that can't be stated, but all the Men on the Team know what I am referencing (a freshman 2K event)

Favorite Regatta: My favorite regatta was definitely Worlds this past summer, but my favorite regatta for Sarasota Crew was Miami International and going to Game Time (the arcade) for some pre-race action!

Miss the most: 

What I will miss the most about Sarasota Crew is the people. They are all a part of my family, coaches and alumni included.

What has Crew taught you: My success at Crew helped me to be accepted into Columbia University - the college of my dreams. Crew also made it possible for me to compete on an international level at the Junior World Championshps in Hamburg, Germany. Crew also made me the person I am today because of all the relationships I have made and lessons I've learned. Thanks to everyone at Crew, from the coaches, my teammates, and the parents who assist at the site. It has been a pleasure knowing all of you and I thank you for molding me into the man I am today

Most Memorable: The Stetson Regatta, when we rowed a 17k through swamps, forests and uncharted territories.

Most Embarrassing: >When I almost drowned after flipping a four at Regionals - while we were on the dock.

Miss the most: My top-secret handshakes with Coach Andy and Coach Casey.

What Crew taught you: Crew has taught me how to manage my time efficiently, but more importantly, it has taught me how to make every moment count

Most Memorable: Martyisms - they never go away.

Most Embarrassing: Actually searching and asking for the Bow Ball Inflator.....

Most Memorable: My most memorable crew experience was when Coach Kirby rowed in the V8 last year during Nationals training...especially when the rate came up (during pieces).

Most Embarrassing: My most embarrassing crew experience was when my single floated away from the dock and almost hit Dicky Bett's dock.

Favorite Regatta: Youth Nationals 2014

Miss the most: The endless wakes that are accompanied by various howling, hooting, and/or whistling during spring break #theycouldbethrowingrocksatyou - Coach Casey.

 What Crew taught you: It made me realize that anything is possible with hard work....even with a few setbacks..which include, but are not limited to; mono, shingles, a broken toe, and/or an injury...with the support of amazing friends and coaches, you can do anything

Most Memorable: Dislocating my shoulder during Square Game

Most Embarrassing: Cutting off a race at Novice Regatta while in a double with Alex Mochrie

Favorite Regatta: Head of the Hooch freshman year.

Miss the most: Hackey sacking with the homies.

 What Crew taught you: Crew gave me the confidence to be who I am and the best friends I've ever had.

Miss the most: Being able to eat whatever I want and all the just dance parties/sleepovers

 What Crew taught you: Crew taught me that you have to work hard for whatever you want in life

Most Memorable: My first day back from my hiatus when we were hit with a massive rainstorm and our quad almost sank

Most Embarrassing: When Casey saw my Anaconda short film

Favorite Regatta: Head of the Charles (even though I was deathly ill with the flu).

Miss the most: My friends on the team, regattas and letting the light in every day at practice.

What Crew taught you: Crew taught me a lot about hard work and discipline and made it possible for me to go to college in California.

Most Memorable: Being told by Grant Golub that I had to talk to "Ben Delany's little brother" on his first day to make him feel welcome to our team, and he ended up being my best friend

Most Embarrassing: When Caitlynn asked me the difference between jam and jelly

Favorite Regatta: States 2014 when we won all three Men's 8's. Our 3V could have won the 2V event and our 2V could have won the V8 event from the times posted.

Miss the most: I'll miss complaining about doing something I love. And my teammates, they're the most amazing set of peers I could have ever asked for.

What Crew taught you: It taught me to motivate myself and not fear what happens when I try hard.

Most Memorable: My most memorable crew experience was qualifying for A Finals and placing 6th at Nationals in the lightweight eight during the 2013/2014 season.

Most Embarrassing: The endless amount of times I have had to use the bathroom while out on the water (novice regatta my freshman year/swing rows with Drew) are probably my most embarrassing moments.

Favorite Regatta: My favorite regatta was Sweep States my sophomore year when the girls 2V was down on Plant by six seats and walked through them in the last ten strokes of the race.

Miss the most: (1) Uni-tans (2) Rowing back from Point Crisp in monsoonal winds while being pelted by rain and becoming hypothermic. (3) Being around people who don't judge me (too much) for my sometimes overwhelming use of attitude and different accents

What Crew taught you: Crew has taught me discipline and that my body and mind can endure much more than my former non-rowing self thought possible, and that, after four years, breaking eight wasn't actually THAT hard

Most Memorable: >My most memorable crew experience was when a manatee lifted me out of the water in my single, known as Manatt.

Most Embarrassing: My most embarrassing crew experience was last year when I got hit in the head with a single's oar while towing in an eight

Favorite Regatta: My favorite regatta was the 2012 Regional Championships. My eight had three false starts, and each time, Plant was in front of us. Plant was in the lead for most of the race, but in the last seven strokes,my boat pulled ahead of Plant to win the Regional title.

Miss the most: I will miss the support from both my teammates and coaches. They helped me realize that I could do whatever I truly set my mind to

What Crew taught you: Crew means leadership experience, fun times, and a door into a great college. Along with my good grades,crew gave me the confidence and ability to achieve my top college choice, the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Most Memorable: The week I rowed with Kirby and Mason in my boat, and was coxed by Caitlyn

Most Embarrassing: My 2013 Christmas gift from Tracy.

Favorite Regatta: Nationals 2014 - actually, no, Lake Natoma was disgusting.

Miss the most: Paying $5 every Monday to eat a crappy burrito with my best friends gave me something to talk about 24/7.

Most Memorable: When Dickey Betts decided to show the team his guitar playing skills.

Most Embarrassing: Skipping practice while I was still on Scullers to meet with Casey about joining

Favorite Regatta: Nationals 2014

Miss the most: The people I have met, and the times shared during bus rides or in the hotel rooms....  And music on site.

What Crew taught you: Crew has taught me the value of hard work, and how there is always room for improvement.

Most Memorable: The most memorable moment was at my first regatta, Novice Regatta. As the race started, a Miami Crew boat crashed into ours and the other two boats raced ahead. We took about 20 seconds to compose ourselves and Miami caught a crab. We caught up to the  two lead boats and passed them to win the race. Somehow the officials called that the crash was our fault (it wasn't) and we ended up in third, despite the fact that we crossed the finish line first, but to come back from behind and win was pretty fun and rewarding

Most Embarrassing: When a seagull decided to drop a load on my jacket & hat at Miami International Regatta, I distinctly remember turning around, unknowing of what just happened,and seeing Tanner Pletzke burst out laughing while pointing at my misfortune

Favorite Regatta: Youth Nationals 2013. Everyone cried

Miss the most: All the stupid jokes

What Crew taught you: Crew gave me a reason to work hard, a means by which I could relieve stress, and a place that I can call my home

Most Memorable: The multiple coxwain bonding experiences, including a spontaneous dance party in the rain and many Dunkin runs.

Most Embarrassing: Once Alex Dluzneski was teasing me, so I tried kicking him, but I ended up falling straight down and staying on the floor for a good minute.

Favorite Regatta: 2014 Nationals in California

Miss the most: Being on a team with a bunch of amazing guys who are like brothers to me.

What Crew taught you: It gave me a passion

Most Memorable: Winning Club Nationals Junior B 4x with Nick, Chris and James.

Most Embarrassing: The days I wore a camelback and thought it was great for Crew

Favorite Regatta: Head of the Hooch 2010, that bus ride was the best!

Miss the most: I'll miss the fact that for 5 years it's felt like my second home.

 What Crew taught you: It gave me a place to escape stress for the last 5 years and made me who I am today
