My most memorable crew experience was watching movies in between practices in the hotel rooms with my best friends at Nationals 2018 in California.

My most embarrassing crew experience was at Plant Sprints 2019 when a four I was in nearly flipped as we getting out on the dock.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss being able to row and spend time with my best friends every day at practice.

Crew has taught me how to manage my time efficiently and will help me stay focused in the future.

Winning a state championship as a freshman.

My most memorable experience was winning the 2v at states.

Most embarrassing crew experience?

My most embarrassing experience was after a really good row in a quad, Monica told us to do a lap around the basin. We all sat up at the catch and before anyone could take a stroke, the boat started tipping and it flipped. It took us 10 minutes to get back in.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss rowing with my friends every day, making shirts, and ice bathing after races together.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me the importance of having good time management.

Most memorable crew experience?
My first practice with the team in back in January. I was thrown head first into a new program with new people, and coming to Sarasota has been one of the best decisions i've made so far in my rowing career.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing crew experience was losing to Marlon and Malaki in the 2- heats at Clemson 2019.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was West Districts 2019 because I was the flag guy at the finish line.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the relationships I've built through this sport the most. The people I've met through crew have been some of the most influential people to me. For that, I'm grateful.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me patience, and commitment. Improvement comes slowly, and if you're not committed or patient you ultimately won't achieve your goals.

Most memorable crew experience?
Sweep States 2018. In addition to a great race, the boat got together Saturday after our heat for perhaps the most fun day that year- it really confirmed to me what an amazing group of people make up this team.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Ramming head-on into Shaw Bowman's single during one of our coveted "adventure rows."

What will you miss the most?
This incredible community I've been part of every day for the past seven years.

Discipline, Sportsmanship, Dedication, Resilience, The value of teamwork, and Leadership.

Most memorable crew experience?
Sweep States 2018. In addition to a great race, we all hung out as a team after the heat and got to bond together as a boat. It was the most fun day of the entire year.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
Missing out on Head of the Charles by 2 seconds because I crashed into the mangroves.

’ll miss creating memories with my best friends.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me the value of hard-work and dedication. Rowing is a true test of perseverance and it rewards those who work the hardest. It has taught me how to learn from failure and humble myself when things are going well.

What Crew taught you?
Crew taught me to believe in my abilities but to never be afraid of criticism. To never forget what my goals are, and that through all the tough days and even the best ones, hard work pays off.

Most memorable crew experience?
Winning Regionals in 2018 in the V8, qualifying us to race the 8+ at Nationals since 2015. We put in a lot of work and time to prepare for that race and went in with questionable confidence, so we ended up proving our own ability to ourselves which meant a lot.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing crew experience was losing to Marlon and Malaki in the 2- heats at Clemson 2019.

Favorite regatta?
My favorite regatta was Head of the Charles in 2016. I seat raced into the 8+ my sophomore year and didn’t know what to expect- we ended up placing 19th and it was an overall really cool first experience.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss my best friends the most, I don’t know if I would have made it through the past 6 years without them. I will also always be thankful for this second family that I’ve had the opportunity to train alongside with every day and share mutual bonds & goals.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me more about myself than anything else has. It has helped me develop into a stronger person mentally and physically, challenged my limits, and showed me that failing isn’t always a bad thing. It has taught me that I am capable of anything that gets thrown at me, that the amount of work you put in reciprocates your success, and that if you're struggling to improve, there is always another stroke, practice, and week to try again.

Seeing the disappointment on Casey's face after seeing my quad-bowing skills at practice (I don't blame him it was awful...)

Favorite regatta?
Because this is my first year on Sarasota, I will probably say regionals or nationals when I compete at those races but for now, the Halloween regatta. I raced in the light 8 for the first time then.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the support, camaraderie, and humor shown to me by the varsity guys. Coming to Sarasota (from my small local team in Manatee), I was worried that I would be at the bottom of the barrel but the support of everyone has helped me maximise my potential.

What Crew taught you?
Speaking from all of my years rowing (on my old team but especially Sarasota), rowing has taught me resiliency, and what it means to truly work the hardest. There have been many setbacks in both my rowing career and overall life, but I have always been able to overcome those challenges because of the resiliency and discipline that rowing has taught me.

Most memorable crew experience?
My most memorable crew experience is seeing the pure joy on the faces of all my closest friends and family after winning the final at nationals.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
The most embarrassing crew experience is looking for the bow-ball inflator as a seventh grader.

My favorite regatta is Youth Nationals

What will you miss the most?
I will miss the time with friends, frog hops at Celery Fields, and doing lunges around the Benderson parking lot.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to become a disciplined person. It has also enabled me to focus on what is most important.

Most memorable crew experience?
My favorite memory at crew is when we qualified the varsity 8 at regionals in 2018. This was special because it was the first time in three years that Sarasota Crew sent a women’s 8 to nationals.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing experience at crew was during the fall of my junior year at practice when we were rowing the 8. I was sitting in bow seat and we were doing sprint pieces when I caught a crab. My oar was shoved into my stomach and I couldn’t get my blade out of the water. My feet slid out of the shoes and I went flying into the water. I think the worst part about this experience was that everybody else in the boat continued with the piece and they didn’t notice I was gone until they saw my head bobbing up and down as they passed me. Practice had to be stopped for about 10 minutes because everybody was laughing so hard..

What will you miss the most?
I will miss seeing all of my best friends everyday. The hard work at practice creates a strong bond that will be hard to recreate with anybody else.

What Crew taught you?
My years at crew have taught me that if you put in the work early on, you will see results in the end. I learned to not take time for granted when everybody is working toward a common goal. I have also learned time management skills which is important when you have to balance academics and practice daily.

Most memorable crew experience?
We were rowing at the intrasquad regatta and Ethan screwed up the course really bad and afterwords everyone started laughing after John Stainbrook made some dumb jokes.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
My most embarrassing experience was ironically the first time I ever rowed at Historic Spanish Point this year. I took out a single and I assured the coaches I would not flip but sure enough right as I was getting off the dock I flipped.

Favorite regatta?
I think it was first Plant Invite regatta and a lot of us were dressed up as lumberjacks and it was goofy. We did pretty well overall too.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me to keep trying and never give up. As cliche as it sounds, I feel that this lesson applies to lots of things in life, whether it be finishing a workout or trying to overcome a troubling experience, crew has matured me overall.

Most memorable crew experience?
The most memorable crew experience would have to be racing in the Woman’s 2V 8+ at states and finally winning our spot back as the fasted 2nd8 in the state after 4 years. The weeks leading up to this race were so much fun and the girls in the boat made it such a special and memorable experience

My most embarrassing crew experience was losing to Marlon and Malaki in the 2- heats at Clemson 2019.My most embarrassing experience would be the few weeks after our Novice girls group created the account “Scnovgirls” my freshman year, and it turned into a team joke, including the entire varsity team at the time, and all of the coaches.Favorite regatta?

Favorite Regatta?
My Favorite Regatta would be Youth Nationals 2018 in the Lightweight 8+. This race gave me so many memories and fun experiences to hold on to with such an amazing group of people.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss seeing some of my best friends every day, and all of the fun times we have every day at practice. The people I have been around over the past five years have made this sport an amazing place to be 6 to 7 days a week.

What Crew taught you?
Crew has taught me that it is possible to push through anything, and that hard work and dedication is extremely important to succeed.

Most memorable crew experience?
Definitely, the day this year that we rowed all the way north to Siesta Key in the 4V. It was just a long steady state in good conditions, but what really stuck out to me was how well the boat was working together. Even with a bunch of us thrown together from different lineups, there was a good sense of flow and timing in our strokes. All the while, Coach Owen was giving us pointers that amounted into considerable positive changes by the time we made it back to the dock. I think that the whole experience taught me that there is no such thing as a "bad boat" and that you can always have a really good row just by keeping a positive attitude.

Most embarrassing crew experience?
That would be flipping in a single at Head of the Oklahoma 2018. I remember feeling pretty good rowing down the course to the start line, as well as passing a boat or two in the first thousand meters of the race. But I took a silly catch and flipped right over, and could not pull myself up out of the chilly, murky Oklahoma water. Eventually, an official in a launch disqualified me to help me back into the boat, which I slowly paddled back to the docks. I was choking back tears the whole time because I felt as if I had let down the team in being unable to do what the coaches had expected of me. But when I got back on land, everybody wanted to make sure I was okay, and I just did my best to get my head in the game for the next race. I am happy that I pulled myself together because the double I rowed, later on, became one of my most enjoyable races ever.

Favorite regatta?
Head of the Oklahoma 2018. Even though I was hardly close to winning any races, getting to travel across the country with the team was exciting. Having some downtime in the airports, at the hotel, and at the regatta allowed me to get to know some of my teammates a bit better. I got to relax a little bit, and I made a fun time of it all. Through a frantic night sprint in a quad, rushing to clean up a busted garbage bag at the end of the night with fireworks drowning the area in smoke, and having maybe just a little bit too much energy drink, I had a blast.

What will you miss the most?
I will miss Sarasota Crew's unique team spirit. Especially towards racing season, tensions run high on the boat. But what I have found most rewarding in the relationships I have made at Sarasota Crew is that we can all get competitive and angry at each other, only to come away as friends afterward. When somebody yells at me to fix my form a certain way or to put in a bit more effort on a tough piece, the intention is to see me succeed, so that our team can be just a little bit better. It feels like we are always trying to build each other up instead of tearing each other down. I don't know if I will ever be on a team with such a spirit again in the future.
