Who/When/Where/Cost 2026-2027 FALL Season Registration Open Now! (see below)

• Grades: 8th through 12th - No Experience Needed! (8th graders can row with our middle school program or high school program)

  • 8th graders are welcome to do a 1-week trial period with our novice team. At the end of the two weeks, the coaches and athlete will decide together if the Novice team or the Middle School program will be the best fit. 

  • Other New Members are also welcome to do a free trial. Sign up under "Try-Out Registration"

• Fall Season 2026: August 12th - December 19th

  • Varsity Team Members: Practice will begin August 11th

• Tuition: $1,950. Fall tuition is due by August 11th, 2026 for returning rowers and covers registration fee, coaching, programming, equipment, and facility use. We do offer a 1-week trial period and are happy to have you contact us if you would like to set up a time to try out the team.

• Practice Schedule: 

  • Novice Team (new to the high school team): Monday, Wednesday, Friday 4 pm - 7 pm and Saturday 7 am - 10:30 am. Saturday location could be at either the Osprey or NBP location.
    This team includes any 8th graders trying the high school team, or any 9-12 graders who are new to the sport and/or high school team. Anyone who was on a high school team before this fall, will likely be placed with our varsity team.

  • Varsity (returning rowers): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 4 pm - 7 pm, and Saturday 7 am - 10:30 am practice at Osprey location in the fall. 

 *Athlete physicals must be turned in before the first day of practice. We accept any doctor physical but often have the FHSAA form turned in. While we encourage you to receive a ECG, we do not require it like the FHSAA does now.

• Fall Race Fees: Fall race fees will be announced and will be due at the beginning of September. Fall race fees in total should be less than $500 (not including Boston). The race fee will cover entry fees, athlete transportation, boat transport, and housing when needed for the following races:

  • Benderson Chase, Sarasota, FL - October 10th - 11th 

  • Head of the Charles Regatta, Boston, MA - October 17-18th (only selected crews will participate)

  • Halloween Regatta, Tampa, FL - October 24th

  • Plant High Winter Sprints, Tampa, FL - December 5th

  • Sarasota Crew Intrasquad Regatta, Sarasota, FL - December 19th

*Race fees do not include the Head of the Charles in Boston, MA. Those selected will pay separately once the boats are selected.

• Spring Season 2026: January 5th to May 9th

• Location: Same (as fall) 2 options for new rowers January-March. Varsity rowers will be in Osprey through March. April & May practices take place at Nathan Benderson Park for ALL high school team members. 

• Tuition: $1925 Spring tuition covers registration fee, coaching, programming, equipment, and facility use.

• Spring 2026 practice Schedule: 

  • Freshmen Team (8th and 9th graders): Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 4 pm - 7pm & Saturday 7 am - 10:30 am 
  • Varsity Team (10th-12th graders): Monday-Friday 4 pm - 7pm & Saturday 7 am - 10:30 am 

• Spring Race Fees: Spring race fees TBD. The race fee will cover entry fees, transportation, boat transport, and housing when needed.

  • *Schedule Note: Rowers are expected to be at NBP on Friday at noon for Sculling & Sweep State Championships and Southeast Regionals

  • Race fees have been able to be lowered because we budgeted for all races. We are unable to decrease the amount if a rower chooses not to make a race. We do not allow families to pick and choose which races they want to pay for as we plan for the entire team attending to keep the prices down.

Southeast Regionals marks the end of the regular season. Boats and athletes that qualify for Youth Nationals will be invited to participate in an extended post season that concludes with racing at Youth Nationals. The post season will be charged separately.

• USRowing Youth National Championships, Nathan Benderson Park, June 11-14th 2026 (charged separately only for rowers who qualify)

End of the Year Banquet, May 17th, 2026. All program participants and their families are invited!

Bus: We can only provide a bus from Pine View this fall due to the expense. We can help figure out carpools so please reach out to us if you need help. To sign up for the bus you simply register under the Join Us -Youth Rowing -Transportation tab.

• Spring Season:

  • Spring Session: 10 weeks of rowing (dates TBA) in the program of your choosing. (No practice the week of Sarasota School District Spring Break). We will have practices on days that are school holidays during this session. We offer a race opportunity instead of practice for AYC Series 1 in February and again for FL State West Districts in March.

  • At our NBP location, during the regular season, practices run Tuesday and Thursday. We will give you the option to join on many Saturdays also but those Saturday practices may be in Osprey.
  • Weekday practices are 4:30PM-6:45PM (6:30PM when Daylight Savings ends)*.
    *Schedule Note: For those who may get out of school later in the day, it is ok to arrive after 5:00PM for your weekday practice. You will still get to placed into our practice rotation and we are used to working kids in when they arrive to us. 

  • Spring Add-On: We offer an additional spring session of 5 weeks (dates TBD) that ends with a race for those that want to continue. This is the only session where we recommend that athletes have prior rowing experience. It leads into USRowing Southeast Regionals in May. The fee for the spring add-on will include this race.

  • Spring Race Options: For athletes who are ready and interested in competing, there are 3 optional Spring races. Race fees are charged separately.

*Schedule Note: For those who may get out of school later in the day, it is ok to arrive after 5:00PM for your weekday practice. You will still get to placed into our practice rotation and we are used to working kids in when they arrive to us. 

• Osprey's regular season program (Oct 5th - Dec 19th) has you choose one weekday and everyone comes on Saturday. You get to choose rowing in a 1x or 8+'s during the week and everyone rows in the team 8+'s on Saturday. All levels welcome. No experience necessary. There is no "right" way to start--you really do just get to choose what you want!

  • Singles Program Regular Season: Sculling (2 oars per rower) in singles, learn the skills of handling your own boat and the refined skills it takes to row a single. This program starts the week of October 5th is offered Mondays or Tuesdays. You will choose one of these week days for the season. Saturdays will be in 8's (sweep rowing) with all program participants.

  • 8s Program Regular Season: Sweep (1 oar per rower) in team boats, learn how to row in 8s and how to work together as a team. We offer this option on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Saturdays will also be in 8's (sweep rowing) with all program participants. 

  • Additional Days: Some individuals would like to come more than the two practices a week so we allow you to add an additional day for the regular season.

Bus: We are able to provide a bus from Pine View currently. It runs Tuesdays during preseason and Monday through Friday during the regular fall season.

•  Days and Times: Mondays and Fridays 4:30PM - 6:30PM (6:15PM during Daylight Savings) Those who cannot arrive by 4:30 will be worked into practice upon arrival. Each session is 10 practices and we will sometimes work around holidays and school off days (for example we do not meet during Thanksgiving week or Spring break). See specific session dates below.
• Fall Session One: August 31st - October 2nd (there IS practice on Labor Day!)
• Fall Session Two:  October 5th - November 6th
• Fall Session Three: November 9th - December 18th (No practice during Thanksgiving Week, November 23rd-28th). Participants will have the option of joining the Sarasota Crew Intrasquad Regatta on December 19th. Practice runs 4:30-6:15 pm this session.
• Spring 2026 Session One: dates TBD. (No practice MLK Day or President's Day). Practice runs 4:30-6:15 pm this session.
• Spring Session Two: dates TBD. (No practice during Sarasota School District Spring Break). Practice runs 4:30-6:30 pm this session.
